I was going through every dungeon trying to collect all the pages, Stonebites, and relics before entering the Well. I currently have 39/40 pages and I'm almost positive it's the one in The Scar I don't have. Only trouble is that area is only accessible via construct chain, and the construct is currently MIA. Is this a quest-breaking bug or is there a workaround?
I've taken notice of the Cleanup Template on the http://darksiders.wikia.com/wiki/Vulgrim page. I took it upon myself to organize it a bit and wanted your opinion on wether or not my work suffices for removal of the Cleanup Template.
Not sure who to ask, but do you know where the information that the Chosen aren't demons comes from? The Chosen article says they aren't demons and someone recently deleted them all from the notable demon list on the demon's page. I'd just like to know where that information comes from if you happen to know.
I figured I should bring this up before release, but I'm worried about article organization when Darksiders II comes out. I've always done my best to organize events chronologically, but currently things are also organized according to whatever media they came from (Example: Darksiders, or Darksiders:The Abomination Vault, or Death's Door). The problem comes because Darksiders II occurs at the same time as the first game.
That didn't occur to me as a problem until I found out Death was going to be helping out Uriel on Earth, probably in that century long gap between the prologue of Darksiders and the rest of the game. Simply cutting a Darksiders II heading right into the Darksiders description for Uriel and others would seem sloppy, so I suggest that the game headings be removed in favor of headings that describe the events themselves. The wiki already has them, like "Apocalypse", the Darksiders heading is just not necessarily relevant. If someone wants to know what events belong to the game, they can always check the game's page.
Well... you are right on one hand, on the other hand tho it has to be noted and distinguished what happens where/when. We are not writing a book here that has to be chrono organized. This is an encyclopedia which means that informatian have to be categorized by content not time of the event and available separately. Id just write things as player discovers them: in DS1 heading you write what you get to know from DS1 point of view and in DS2 from the other perspective - dont mix em up. Its also better to avoid spoilers. Imagie you have to read everything about uriel just to know what happens in DS1... Its not really a simple matter to solve but optimal solutions imho is to keep to the release order - tho the timeline is indeed twisted and intertwined.
My conclusion: i dont support your suggestion to remove game headings in favor of the events.
I hope this clears your concerns. Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 20:09, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
One more thing. Turning a wikias organization upside down is no easy task and takes weeks if not months of consistent work. Even if you could do this i srsly doubt your determination to bring it to an end. I dont even mention pending premiere of DS2 which will probably bring a wave a hot headed editors...
Fair enough. Though I'd think that the portion of the encyclopedia that tells a character's history would be chronological, I mostly just wanted to make sure this had been thought of.
I wouldn't really call it turning the organization upside down, though sometimes the organization for character's histories is already inconsistent. On Uriel's page for example, it would just be a matter of removing Darkisiders as a heading, making an Apocalypse heading and another heading for when Uriel meets War a century later. The Darksiders II stuff would just fit between. Most everything else is already chronologically organized on all pages. For those not appearing in Darksiders II, you'd only need to rename the Darksiders heading and maybe create a second heading if they appeared in both the prologue and the rest of the game. Considering that this setting really does not have that many characters in the grand scheme as of yet (And this would only affect characters from the first game), I don't think it would be as work intensive as you think. Its only the character histories that I think need chronological organization.
I appreciate the desire not to mix things up and avoid spoilers, I just think that anyone looking for that could find it by going to the game's page. Anyone wanting to avoid all spoilers won't be on a wiki or stick to the guide related pages at all at any rate. All that being said, I'll go with what you think is best certainly.
You sure are a persisten fellow. Having done like 5-6k edits on different wikias you can honestly believe me that any multi page, consistent edit is a time consuming endeavour. I have also put myself against such tasks and hell... i wouldnt like to do it again. You just *think* its only this and that but in a week time when more intel'd be given from DS2 and youd dig yourself in deeper and deepr you'd review your point of view and came to realize that its not that fast nor simple and sadly, you'd been wrong.
I, for one, would like to keep the "As Learned" order adding proper info under labels/headers describing where this info was obtained and treating pieces of info obtained after those that are know but concerning events chrongically before as retrospections. Just as they are to use now. On the side note i dont rly like this Origins header on Uriel page tho i dont know where is this taken from.
Nice of you to ask, i invested a lot of time and effort to make this wikia look like you see it now. Id be rly upset to see it messed up (again). Pretty much all the layout, categories pics etc is either made or fixed by me. there are few pages i havent edited at some point.
Thanks for your, so rarely met cooperation amongst users and understanding. Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 23:56, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
Alright then. I'm not entirely sold on the workload thing, but I won't argue and you could be right.
BTW the Origin heading on Uriel's page contains information from The Abomination Vault. I didn't call it that since she was such a side mention in the book and had absolutely nothing to do with the story aside from being a bystander. I've been using the Origin heading for information about the character's distant past that is learned either indirectly (Such as an official press release from the developer) meaning not from a game, comic, or book ect. Or only referenced or flashbacks like the when Death first tamed Despair in the Death's door comic. The flashback is still mentioned in the article where it should be in the Death's Door section, I just thought it would be easier for anyone looking to learn more about a character's early and often only referenced history to do it in one place rather than scan through the whole article for the revelations. Though you should feel free get rid of it, I've been using it as a sort of concession to chronology in the current organizational scheme. I hope that's alright.
If a piece of info is given by game devs as a singularity just add it to overview as most characters have this section. Those Appearnce section is made to list where, how etc a given char is shown. Overview sums up this all adding some loose info as well. Id ceratianly feel free to do so only that i should make place for new editors like yourself, to take over. Informing an the community about your large-scale plan is always a good idea since the changes cant be implemented overnight and its not always clearly visible what you have in mind so show the big picture to the rest. Otherwise you might be misunderstood. Its for the future record.
Since wikia is free for all, there is no other way but to be alright. I cant force a certain thing even if i wanted to, especially that its a matter of 'taste'. Remember Admins are just regular kids in the same sandbox... only having more toys to play with and to keep relative order in the sandbox. In most cases theyve been around for quite some time so they know most of their 'arena' and have a lil more exp than the rest :) Cheers Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 00:49, August 12, 2012 (UTC)
